MONTREAL — The "Little Monsters" of Montreal were met with devastating news Monday night as pop icon Lady Gaga was forced to cancel the final stop of her three-day stint at the Bell Centre. The announcement, which came just hours before the doors were set to open on April 6, 2026, has left thousands of fans stranded and the singer herself reportedly "heartbroken."
The Breaking Announcement
The 40-year-old superstar took to her Instagram Stories on Monday evening to deliver the news directly to her followers. Gaga revealed that she has been privately battling a severe respiratory infection that took a sharp turn for the worse following her previous performances in the city. "I’m so sorry to share that I’m unable to perform tonight and have to cancel the show," the singer wrote in an emotional post. "I’ve been fighting a respiratory infection for the past few days and doing everything I can to rest and recover. But it’s gotten worse."
The cancellation was not a choice made lightly. Gaga clarified that her medical team intervened as her physical condition deteriorated. "My doctor has strongly advised me not to perform today," she shared, adding with characteristic candor, "To be honest, I don’t think I could give you the quality of a performance today that you deserve."
A Bittersweet Residency
The canceled April 6 show was intended to be the grand finale of a highly successful Montreal run for The Mayhem Ball tour. Gaga had previously performed to sold-out crowds at the Bell Centre on Thursday, April 2, and Friday, April 3.
Reflecting on those nights, she noted that the energy from the Montreal crowd was "magical and deeply meaningful." However, it appears the physical toll of those high-octane performances, combined with her worsening illness, made a third night impossible. Fans who had already begun gathering at the venue were met with "Cancelled" signs on the digital marquees, a stark contrast to the glitter and excitement expected for the evening.
What Happens Next?
As the news broke, tour promoters and the venue, Bell Centre, moved quickly to address ticket holders. According to official statements from Evenke:
Online Purchases: Refunds will be processed automatically to the original credit card used.
In-Person Purchases: Fans are instructed to contact customer service via email to facilitate their returns.
There has been no word yet on whether the show will be rescheduled, as The Mayhem Ball tour is currently in its final stretch. Gaga is still scheduled to perform in Saint Paul, Minnesota, on April 9 and 10, before concluding the massive 86-date global tour at Madison Square Garden in New York on April 13.
For now, the singer is focusing on recovery. "I know how deeply disappointing this is, and I truly could not feel worse about letting you down," Gaga concluded in her statement. "To everyone who was coming tonight, I’m absolutely heartbroken and so sorry."
